Wheelchair Basketball in Turkey Was a War Zone

Wheelchair Basketball in Turkey

Knives, baseball bats, fire extinguishers, what I’m describing isn’t your little cousin’s quinceañera.

It’s a Turkish Süper Ligi wheelchair basketball game between fierce inter-city rivals Galatasaray and Besiktas that turned into an absolute war zone.

Projectiles were hurled, including someone’s walking crutch, a half-empty bottle of Efes Pilsen, and even a nearby fire extinguisher was used…not to put out a fire.

The kebab-fueled mob also injured several athletes and thrashed their wheelchairs too during the kurfuffle, in the clearest display of ‘anyone can get these hands’ ever witnessed.

Police eventually dispersed the hooligans with tear gas, but not before arresting at least 10 disabled abusers and sending the rest scurrying back to the safety of the bathhouse.
