Having recently made the pilgrimage to Cairo over the holidays a few months back and befriended a camel, I can sympathize with the sentiment this story is conveying.
Crossing the street in Egypt is definitely not safe🙅♂️ and apparently, neither is attending a basketball game.
At least 27 people were injured this past December when stands partly collapsed during a Super Cup basketball game between Ittihad of Alexandria and the home side Al-Ahly.
Raving Ittihad supporters were blamed for causing a quote “stampede” in the stands.
Luckily, local security has some first-hand experience with stampedes and revolutions, so order was swiftly restored and those affected were quickly rushed to the hospital without any casualties.
Evidently, the concession stand should have been selling safety equipment instead of Ful pita bread snacks😓
