The whole thing was rather “funny” said Luke Ridnour about never visiting a single one of the four teams he was traded to in a span of six days during the summer of 2015.

If you’re a professional athlete, being traded and having to find a new place to live and strip club to frequent is always a possibility.

Especially if you are what is known as a journeyman – good, but not great and thus more likely to get sacrificed for a young, up-and-coming prospect in a transaction at any given time.

Frodo Gets Kicked Out of The Shire

This is the exact predicament that veteran point guard Luke “Frodo” Ridnour found himself in at the end of his 12-year career.

After spending one unfulfilling season with the Mickey Mouse Orlando Magic, Frodo found himself in the clutches of Mordor’s trade vortex, unable to escape.

Here is a complete rundown of the four trades in six days that saw Ridnour get passed around the league like a church collection plate.

  • On June 24, 2015 he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for the draft rights to this guy:

  • The very next day the Grizz sent him to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Matt “I’ll spit on you” Barnes
  • Later that same afternoon he was traded once again, along with a 2016 second-round draft pick, to the OKC Thunder in exchange for Jeremy Lamb
  • On June 30th, he was sent all the way to Canada and the Toronto Raptors along with a bag of cash for the draft rights to a guy whose name I cannot even pronounce – Tomislav Zubčić
  • Finally, on July 9th he was waived by the Raptors

During this entire week-long saga, Frodo was at home chilling on the couch with a beer and his hobbit family back in Seattle.

He never checked in with any of the teams he was traded to and shortly afterward, to spite them all he announced that he would be sitting out the following season entirely. Ridnour ultimately calling it quits for good in 2016✌️
